BEXIMCO DTH (RealVU) Press Launch
March 10, 2016: BEXIMCO Communications Limited is about to launch country’s first Direct-to-Home (DTH) service, a method of receiving television signal directly from the satellite, under the brand name ‘RealVU’. The best international practices of TV services and technologies will be implemented in Bangladesh soon.
Beximco unveils RealVU logo
The company to launch first-ever DTH services by mid-April
Flaunting the tagline ‘Life is really colorful now’, Beximco Communications Limited yesterday launched the logo of ‘RealVU’, the brand that will provide Direct-to-Home (DTH) television services.
The first DTH service of the country will have an operational launch somewhere between mid-April and May this year, officials said, aiming to time it with the start of the Bengali New Year on April 14.
In December 2013, the government awarded licences to Beximco Communications Limited to launch DTH service in Bangladesh. It also received the necessary approval from Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) in this regard. DTH, by definition, is reception of satellite programs through a personal dish installed in an individual home. Unlike traditional cable, in DTH, TV channels are transmitted from the satellite to a small dish antenna mounted on the window or rooftop of the subscriber's home. The broadcaster, thus, directly connects to the user. There are no middlemen, like the local cable operators, in the picture. It also improves the image and sound quality, providing a true digital television viewing experience. “It will drastically change the viewing experience of the Bangladeshi TV audience,” said Dmitry Lapitskiy, CEO of Beximco Communications Ltd, at the press meet, adding, “The picture quality that will be provided by RealVU will be of much better quality than the analogue cable TV.”
Lapitskiy, a Russian national, said RealVU would be initially launched in metropolitan areas. “It will be gradually launched in all districts; all corners of the country will be brought under this new digital TV viewing opportunity,” he claimed.
To avail the DTH service, customers will initially need to have a set-top box and dish-antenna. After the installation and first payment, they will be able to enjoy the RealVU service.
The approximate monthly bill of the service will amount to Tk.300, where subscribers will get access to over 100 channels with more than 26 Bengali channels and many international majors, including five HD channels.
Lapitskiy informed that RealVU will have 24/7 customer support service. “The RealVU customers will also have various options to pay the monthly bill,” he added. Beximco Communications Limited has finalized the list of distributors to enable customers to get the service easily from their nearest location.
Replying a query on the service costing more in future, Lapitskiy assured that they would always keep the price affordable. “We want to provide the best service in the most cost-effective manner,” he said.
On whether DTH will have a negative impact on the country’s cable industry, he said it was difficult to gauge the impact at this stage. “DTH is the latest technology and it offers the best TV viewing experience. We will give a new service to Bangladesh’s people and they will decide whether to accept that or not,” he said.
Prakash Das, Director, Beximco Communication Ltd, also spoke on the occasion.
RealVU is a joint venture between BEXIMCO and GS Group. The BEXIMCO Group is the largest private sector group in Bangladesh, while the GS Group is a Russian investment and industry multispectral holding company, operating in the telecommunication and other innovation markets and actively developing its own technologies.

Dhaka-Yangon air link to open up new business opportunities
The direct air connectivity between Dhaka and Yangon promises
enormous opportunities for the Bangladeshi traders to explore Myanmar-
the unexplored mineral-rich market isolated since the last 50 years. Beximco Group,
an international leader in a plethora of merchandise to and from
Bangladesh states that Myanmar is like a veiled mine of business
opportunities. This place is a land of fortune and businessman’s
paradise with the increasing developments in Myanmar.
The pharmaceutical companies in Bangladesh have acquired a stronghold on the medicine market of Myanmar as this gateway to South Asia does not have any pharmaceuticals plant of its own.
Syed Shamim Hossain, business development manager of Myanmar Operation of Beximco Group stated that at present, Bangladeshi pharmaceuticals companies are in fourth position in the Myanmar market followed by Thailand and Indian medicines.
The Bangladeshi medicines are getting immensely popular among the common people as well as the physicians of Myanmar. Beximco Pharma recently sent some local physicians to Bangladesh to visit their pharmaceuticals plants. The doctors of Myanmar were highly impressed with the high standard medicines produced by Bangladesh. The direct air link between Dhaka and Yangon was well appreciated by the Bangladeshi business leaders in Myanmar acknowledging its role in increasing the growth prospects and expansion of Bangladesh’s business in Myanmar.
Salman F Rahman, MD, Beximco Group highlighted that the air link has reduced the time taken to reach Yangon via Thailand which earlier took one and a half days. Around six weekly flights are being operated at present by Bangladesh Biman and private airliner Novoair, three for each between Dhaka and Yangon.”

Items made of ceramics material is not a new concept. The oldest of ceramics were made 27,000 years before, which includes pots and figurines. Ceramics items are no more limited to usage only; they also work as a status symbol for majority of ceramics buyers. The hub of ceramics is Dhaka, Bangladesh, where anything can be found, if you know where to go, just like New Market of Dhaka, where expectations meet reality, whether it’s price or variety. Beximco Pharma gets US FDA approval
Beximco Pharmaceuticals Limited ("BPL", "Beximco Pharma" or "Company") becomes the first Bangladeshi pharmaceutical company to be approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (US FDA) following successful inspection of its oral solid dosage facility at Tongi, during January 19-22, 2015. The company says it has received the establishment inspection report (EIR) from the US drug regulatory authority stating that the audit is formally concluded. This is a major milestone for the company as well as for the entire industry as this is the first time a Bangladeshi company has received the prestigious FDA approval. This approval is based on the comprehensive audit encompassing all the systems of drug manufacturing: Quality; Facilities and Equipment; Materials; Production; Packaging and Labeling; and Laboratory Controls. Remarkably, there was no 483 observation issued by the US regulatory authority. A 483 form is issued when FDA has observations of non-compliance or deviation from Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
The company has already submitted several Abbreviated New Drug Application (ANDAs) for the US market which are currently under review; export to US market will commence as soon as those ANDAs are approved. Nazmul Hassan, Managing Director of Beximco Pharma, said; “This is a remarkable achievement for the Bangladesh pharmaceutical industry as this makes ways for us to export medicines to the US market known for stringent regulations and quality standards.”
Beximco Pharma is a leading exporter of medicines in the country with its facilities already accredited by the regulatory authorities of European Union, Australia, Canada, Taiwan and Brazil, among others
