বিদেশি টেলিভিশন চ‌্যানেলে দেশি পণ‌্যের বিজ্ঞাপন বন্ধ হয়েছে'

প্রধানমন্ত্রী শেখ হাসিনার নির্দেশে বাংলাদেশে সম্প্রচারিত বিদেশি টেলিভিশন চ‌্যানেলে দেশি পণ‌্যের বিজ্ঞাপন বন্ধ হয়েছে বলে জানিয়েছেন মিডিয়া ইউনিটির উপদেষ্টা সালমান এফ রহমান।

আজ শনিবার রাজধানীর ঢাকা ক্লাব মিলনায়তনে মিডিয়া ইউনিটি আয়োজিত আলোচনা সভায় তিনি এসব কথা বলেন।

বিদেশি চ্যানেলে দেশি বিজ্ঞাপন প্রচারের মাধ্যমে দেশের টাকা অবৈধভাবে বিদেশে পাচার হয়ে যাচ্ছে অভিযোগ তুলে তা বন্ধের দাবিতে গত ৫ নভেম্বর আন্দোলন শুরু করে মিডিয়া ইউনিটি।

অনুষ্ঠানে সালমান এফ রহমান বলেন, এরই মধ্যে বিজ্ঞাপন যে আসত তা বন্ধ হয়ে গেছে। মাননীয় তথ্যমন্ত্রীও নোটিশ দিয়েছিলেন যাঁরা ডাউনলিংক করেন তাঁদের। বিদেশি চ্যানেলকেও জানিয়ে দেওয়া হয়েছে যে বিদেশি চ্যানেলে আমাদের বাংলাদেশি বিজ্ঞাপন দেখাতে পারবে না।

মিডিয়া ইউনিটির আহ্বায়ক ও একাত্তর টেলিভিশনের প্রধান নির্বাহী মোজাম্মেল বাবু বলেন, আমাদের চূড়ান্ত বিজয় অর্জিত হয়েছে। আমরা আমাদের ধারাবাহিক আন্দোলন স্থগিত ঘোষণা করছি।

Beximco Group to construct power plants

Country's largest company Beximco Group signed a treaty with China Energy Engineering Corporation on developing several energy projects. China Energy Engineering Corporation is a Fortune 500 Company and currently one of the biggest power solution supplier companies in China and in the world.

CEO of Beximco Power Company Ltd, Ajmal Kabir, signed the agreement at Beximco Group’s head office. President Fu Hongwei signed the agreement on China Energy Engineering Corporation's behalf. Beximco Group’s chairman Sohail F Rahman, its vice chairman Salman F Rahman, director Shayan F Rahman and Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Ma Mingqiang were present at the occasion. After signing the agreement, vice chairman of Beximco Group, Salman F Rahman said that it was a significant day for the company. He said the projects will have significant contribution in the energy sector of Bangladesh. Salman F Rahman is one of the top businessmen in Bangladesh and has always looked for new and challenging ventures. Signing agreements with China Energy Engineering Corporation of four energy projects is another feather to his list of contribution to Bangladesh's economy.

Beximco Group plans to work on four major projects in Bangladesh with China Energy Engineering Corporation. Among these four, one is an 8 MW capacity solar power plant to be developed at the Beximco Industrial Park premises, one is a 660 MW coal fired power plant, and one is a 200 MW solar power plant in Gaibandha. The fourth one is on setting up a large nationwide distribution system. All projects will be developed with state of the art technology.

Beximco Group was founded in the early 1970’s by Sohail F Rahman and Salman F Rahman. The company has strong presence in both domestic and international markets.

Salman F Rahman reelected as IFIC Bank chairman

Salman F Rahman has recently been reelected as the chairman of IFIC Bank.

Upon completion of his first term in the board of the bank, he was reelected as a director of the bank in its 39th annual general meeting held on July 14.

He is the vice chairman of Beximco Group, IFIC Bank said in a statement yesterday.

He was also the president of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry, the apex trade body of businesses in the country.

বাংলাদেশ এখন কৃষিভিত্তিক অর্থনীতি থেকে শিল্পের দিকে যাচ্ছে জানিয়ে এদেশে বিনিয়োগের জন্য সৌদি ব্যবসায়ীদের প্রতি আহ্বান জানিয়েছেন প্রধানমন্ত্রী শেখ হাসিনা।

রোববার সকালে জেদ্দা চেম্বার অব কমার্স অ্যান্ড ইন্ডাস্ট্রিজের নেতাদের সঙ্গে বৈঠকে এ আহ্বান জানান তিনি। বৈঠক শেষে প্রধানমন্ত্রীর প্রেস সচিব ইহসানুল করিম সাংবাদিকদের এ বিষয়ে জানান।

বাংলাদেশকে ২০২১ সালের মধ্যে মধ্যম আয় এবং ২০৪১ সালে উন্নত দেশে উন্নীত করার লক্ষ্যের কথা তুলে ধরে শেখ হাসিনা বলেন, “আমরা ইতোমধ্যেই নিম্ন মধ্যম আয়ের দেশে উন্নীত হয়েছি। লক্ষ্য অর্জনের চেষ্টা চালিয়ে যাচ্ছি।

“সৌদি বিনিয়োগকারী ও উদ্যোক্তা নেতাদের আমাদের দেশে বিনিয়োগ, ব্যবসা-বাণিজ্য, সমৃদ্ধি এবং লভ্যাংশের অংশীদার হওয়ার আহ্বান জানাচ্ছি।”

সম্মিলিত উদ্যোগের মাধ্যমেই কোটি মানুষের জীবনমানের পরিবর্তন আসবে বলে মন্তব্য করেন তিনি।
বাংলাদেশের উদীয়মান শিল্প খাত যেমন- বস্ত্র, চামড়া শিল্প, পাট, সিরামিক, পেট্রো-কেমিকেল, ফার্মাসিউটিক্যালস, শিপ বিল্ডিং, কৃষি প্রক্রিয়াজাতকরণ, প্লাস্টিক পণ্য, হালকা প্রকৌশল ও ইলেকট্রনিকস, টেলিযোগাযোগ ও তথ্য-প্রযুক্তি, বিদ্যুৎ-জ্বালানি ও সমুদ্র সম্পদসহ বিভিন্ন খাতে বিনিয়োগের আহ্বান জানান প্রধানমন্ত্রী। 

দক্ষিণ এশিয়ায় বাংলাদেশ ‘সবচেয়ে উদার’ বিনিয়োগ নীতির দেশ মন্তব্য করে শেখ হাসিনা বলেন, আইন করে বিদেশি বিনিয়োগকারীদের নিরাপত্তা, ট্যাক্স হলিডে, যন্ত্রপাতি আমদানিতে কর রেয়াত, রয়্যালটির রেমিটেন্স, অনিয়ন্ত্রিত প্রত্যাহার নীতি এবং লভ্যাংশ ও পুঁজি দেশে ফিরিয়ে নেওয়াসহ অনেক সুযোগ-সুবিধা দেওয়া হচ্ছে।
এছাড়া তরুণ, পরিশ্রমী এবং তুলনামূলক স্বল্প বেতনে প্রশিক্ষিত জনশক্তি, স্বল্প খরচে ব্যবসা প্রতিষ্ঠান প্রতিষ্ঠা এবং ইউরোপীয় ইউনিয়ন, অস্ট্রেলিয়া, কানাডা, ভারত, জাপান ও নিউজিল্যান্ডের বাজারে পণ্যের শুল্কমুক্ত ও কোটামুক্ত প্রবেশ সুবিধার কথা তুলে ধরেন তিনি।

প্রধানমন্ত্রী বলেন, শিল্পসমৃদ্ধ বাংলাদেশ গড়ে তোলার লক্ষ্যে তার সরকার দেশের বিভিন্ন স্থানে ১০০টি বিশেষ অর্থনৈতিক অঞ্চল (এসইজেড) প্রতিষ্ঠা করছে এবং তথ্য-প্রযুক্তি শিল্পের জন্য একাধিক হাই টেক পার্ক নির্মাণ করা হচ্ছে।

“এসইজেড ও হাই টেক পার্কে বিনিয়োগকারীদের জন্য বিশেষ প্রণোদনা প্যাকেজ দেওয়া হচ্ছে।”
বাংলাদেশের অর্থনীতির অগ্রগতি তুলে ধরে তিনি বলেন, “জীবন-জীবিকার প্রয়োজননির্ভর কৃষিভিত্তিক রাষ্ট্র থেকে বাংলাদেশ এখন একটি যন্ত্রনির্ভর, প্রক্রিয়াজাতকরণ, বৈচিত্র্য ও মূল্য সংযোজনের দেশে পরিণত হচ্ছে।”
শেখ হাসিনা বলেন, ক্রয় ক্ষমতার সক্ষমতার (পিপিপি) দিক থেকে বাংলাদেশ বিশ্বের ৩৭তম বৃহৎ অর্থনীতির দেশ।

“আমাদের অর্থনীতি বর্তমান বিশ্বের দ্রুত বর্ধনশীল পাঁচটি অর্থনীতির একটি।”

গোল্ডম্যান স্যাস বাংলাদেশকে ‘নেক্সট ইলেভেন’ এবং জে পি মরগ্যান ‘ইমার্জিং ফাইভ’ অর্থনীতির তালিকায় অন্তর্ভুক্ত করার তথ্যও তুলে ধরেন প্রধানমন্ত্রী।

গত সাত বছরে ৬ ভাগের ওপর অর্থনৈতিক প্রবৃদ্ধি ধরে রাখা এবং রপ্তানি আয়, রেমিটেন্স ও বৈদেশিক মুদ্রার রিজার্ভ বৃদ্ধির কথা সৌদি ব্যবসায়ীদের জানান তিনি।

বাংলাদেশ ও সৌদি আরবের মধ্যে ২০১৪-২০১৫ অর্থবছরে বাণিজ্যের পরিমাণ ছিল এক বিলিয়ন ডলার। এটাকে আরও বাড়ানোর সুযোগ রয়েছে বলে মন্তব্য করেন প্রধানমন্ত্রী।

বৈঠকে জেসিসিআইয়ের ভাইস চেয়ারম্যান মাজেন এম বাত্রিজি দুই দেশের বাণিজ্য বৃদ্ধির ওপর জোর দেন।
দুই দেশের বেসরকারি খাতের মধ্যে বাণিজ্য বাড়ানোর ওপর গুরুত্বারোপ করে তিনি বলেন, “দুই দেশের মধ্যে বর্তমান ব্যবসার আকার যথেষ্ট না। এটা বাড়াতে হবে। এজন্য দুই দেশের ব্যবসায়ীদের একসঙ্গে কাজ করতে হবে, সুযোগ সৃষ্টি করতে হবে।”

বিনিয়োগের সম্ভাবনা খুঁজতে জেসিসি থেকে ব্যবসায়ীদের একটা প্রতিনিধি দল বাংলাদেশে পাঠানো হবে বলেও জানান তিনি।

প্রধানমন্ত্রীর উপস্থিতিতে বাংলাদেশ থেকে প্রকৌশলী, স্থপতির মত দক্ষ মানবসম্পদ রপ্তানির লক্ষ্যে সৌদি আরবভিত্তিক বাওয়ানি গ্রুপ এবং বাংলাদেশের সেনাকল্যাণ সংস্থার মধ্যে একটি সমঝোতা স্মারক সই হয়। এতে প্রধানমন্ত্রীর মুখ্য সচিব আবুল কালাম আজাদ ও বাওয়ানি গ্রুপের মহাব্যবস্থাপক ফাকের এ আল-শাওয়াফ নিজ নিজ পক্ষে চুক্তিতে সই করেন।

বৈঠকে অন্যদের মধ্যে পররাষ্ট্রমন্ত্রী এএইচ মাহমুদ আলী, বাংলাদেশের শিল্পোদ্যোক্তা সালমান এফ রহমানের নেতৃত্বে এফবিসিসিআই সভাপতি আব্দুল মাতলুব আহমাদসহ অন্যান্য ব্যাবসায়ী নেতারা উপস্থিত ছিলেন।

IFIC Bank hands over literary award

The IFIC Bank Shahitya Puroshkar- 2014 was handed over to the winners Saturday in the city. Faruque Chowdhury and Shaheen Akhtar received the awards worth Tk 0.5 million each for their books namely ‘Jiboner Balukabelay’ and ‘Moyur Shinghashon’ respectively. Finance Minister AMA Muhith handed over the crests and money to the winners.

The minister also inaugurated the newly-built IFIC Bank Tower immediate before of the award giving ceremony. With giving such award the IFIC Bank is contributing for creative literary activities in the country, said Mr Muhith. He also said since the beginning the bank has been working in many ways for the country's economic development. Salman F Rahman, the IFIC Bank chairman said along with corporate social responsibility (CSR) they sponsored and donated for different cultural programme.  And such initiatives will continue in coming days. Private sector urged to develop own system

Closing ceremony of tech summit held
Curbing dependency on foreign expertise in terms of providing information security, Salman F Rahman, vice chairman of Beximco Group, yesterday said that our private sector should come forward to develop its own information security system.
He was speaking at the closing ceremony of the two-day SAARC Tech Summit 2016, jointly organised by the by CTO (Chief Technology Officer) Forum, Bangladesh and INFOCOM India at the BIAM auditorium in the capital.
SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industries (SAARC CCI) is providing assistance to the summit.
Salman F Rahman, the founder chairman of SAARC CCI, termed the recent two incidents of Bangladesh Bank (BB) cyber heist and ATM forgery as two serious breeches in our information security system.
He said: “We should develop our own expertise to full-proof our own security system. Instead of depending on the foreign companies, we should develop our own companies to do that.”

He said that our bureaucrats have a certain mind set that only foreign nationals have the expertise to do the job. "I believe our young generation has huge potentials and they will be able to do it. Time and again they have proven that."
He said that right policy making decisions could do wonders for a country like Bangladesh. "Two decisions of allowing back-to-back letter of credit and bonded warehouse have done wonders in our garment sector."
Those decisions were taken by some brave government officials who took the decision against the tides. "I believe if our young generation approach the government in proper manner and make the decision makers understand the value of their proposal, they will get the policy support."
Rahman said, seven years ago when Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina unveiled her dream of creating a Digital Bangladesh, many people said that such dream could not be materialised.
"But in last seven years, we have come a long way and have achieved a lot of success in our IT sector. Lot more has to be done but so far our achievement has been remarkable."
About the CTO Forum, he said that now people in Bangladesh are familiar with the term chief technology officer.
"Only decades ago, people were not even familiar with the term chief executive officer (CEO) as private sector didn't flourish then. Now we have established CTO culture which proves how far we have come from that point."
He said: “Everything is done digitally these days. Internationally technology has reached to such an extent, that you just can't go back to manual platform anymore.  For that, security of information has become very important."
Stressing on the importance of ensuring information security, he said that like quality control and internal audit department which run independently within an organisation, time has come to establish independent cyber security department too.
He termed Beximco group as pioneer in different technologies in Bangladesh, he said that he was the first person to bring personal computer and banking software in Bangladesh.  
"I also brought the first fax machine in Bangladesh. When I brought it I needed 26 different signatures, the last one was from the then President Hussain Muhammad Ershad."
Rahman later presented awards among four technology leaders representing four countries-Bhutan, India, Nepal and Srilanka.
Drugay Rana, CIO of Dungsam Cement Corporation Ltd, Dr Sundar Raj Vijaynagar, chief technology officer and group head of IT of SREI Equipment Finance Limited, Pramod Kumar Parmar, director, Backbone Transmission Directorate, Nepal telecom and Ramesh Shanmuganathan, executive vice president and group CEO of John Keels Holdings PLC received awards from their respective countries.
Shafquat Haider, chairman, Council for Communication & IT, SAARC CCI, N I Khan, former secretary, KK Mahapatro, organising secretary of INFOCOM and Tapan Kanti Sarkar, president of CTO Forum, were also present on the occasion.

Dhaka-Yangon air link to open up new business opportunities

The direct air connectivity between Dhaka and Yangon promises enormous opportunities for the Bangladeshi traders to explore Myanmar- the unexplored mineral-rich market isolated since the last 50 years. Beximco Pharma recently sent some local physicians to Bangladesh to visit their pharmaceuticals plants. The doctors of Myanmar were highly impressed with the high standard medicines produced by Bangladesh. The direct air link between Dhaka and Yangon was well appreciated by the Bangladeshi business leaders in Myanmar acknowledging its role in increasing the growth prospects and expansion of Bangladesh’s business in Myanmar.


Salman F Rahman, MD, Beximco Group highlighted that the air link has reduced the time taken to reach Yangon via Thailand which earlier took one and a half days. Around six weekly flights are being operated at present by Bangladesh Biman and private airliner Novoair, three for each between Dhaka and Yangon.”
